AN ACT TO EMPOWER THE MINISTER TO CHANGE THE TITLES OF
PUBLIC OFFICES AND TO VEST ALL NECESSARY AUTHORITIES IN
SUCH OFFICES
[20th June, 1966]

Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Titles of Office Act.

Interpretation
2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires and for all purpose thereof—
  1. includes this and any other Act and all notices, regulations, rules. proclamations, by-laws or any other law made under or in pursuance of such Acts;
  2. "change of title" includes any change of title necessitated by the abolition of any office;
  3. "functions" includes powers, duties, authority and jurisdiction;
  4. "office" means an office or post held by any person including that of the Minister charged with responsibility for any Act.

Change of title
3.—(1) Whenever any change of title of any office is made, the Minister may order such change and upon the date of coming into force of such order, all references to such office by its former title, or by his former title to the office holding the same in any Act and in all instruments, documents and legal proceedings in force, made or continuing upon the said date shall be construed and references to the new title and all functions that may be performed by the holder of such office or that he may have, immediately prior to the date of such order, shall be vested in and may be performed by the holder of the new office.
(2) An order made under the provisions of subsection (1) may relate to change of title in an Act or in such parts or sections thereof as may be specified therein whereupon the provisions of subsection (1) shall take effect as shall be necessary to give full force and effect thereto.
